Chutes, hoppers & silos
Bulk materials slide and fall through transfer chutes, hoppers and silo cones. Where material slides, alumina tiles carry the wear; where lumps strike, rubber-ceramic panels absorb the impact; on vertical and overhead faces, weld-on tiles stay put.
Match the lining to the zone
One chute often needs two or three linings. Map where material strikes and where it slides, then line each zone for its own wear mode.
| Zone | Wear mode | Usually fits |
|---|---|---|
| Impact point under a discharge | Impact + abrasion | Rubber-ceramic panels |
| Chute bed and walls downstream | Sliding abrasion | Plain or weld-on tiles |
| Vertical walls and overhead faces | Sliding; risk of tiles detaching | Weld-on tiles |
| Hopper and silo cones | Sliding abrasion | Tiles; shaped tiles at transitions |
| Large-diameter silo walls | Sliding abrasion | Flat tiles — the curvature is small enough to fit flat |
Large silos
On silos more than about ten metres in diameter the wall curvature is slight, and flat tiles can be fitted directly without shaped pieces. Cones and transitions still need cut or shaped tiles.

Questions
Can we line only the worst areas?
Yes. Lining the impact point and the most worn sections first is common. Photos of the worn chute usually show where to start.
Bonded or welded tiles in a chute?
Bonded tiles work on beds and inclined faces at ambient temperature. On vertical walls, overhead faces and anywhere with vibration or heat, weld-on tiles are safer because they cannot slide off if the adhesive weakens.
Send the duty conditions.
We recommend the lining, state where it stops working, and quote once the parameters are confirmed.
