Alumina grinding balls
92 % and 95 % high-alumina balls for ceramic body and glaze, pigments and non-metallic minerals, and 68 % and 75 % medium-alumina balls where cost matters more than purity.

Grades
| Grade | Use it for | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 92 % high alumina | The standard choice for glaze, frit, ceramic body and mineral grinding | Bulk density measured per batch; the Chinese industry standard minimum for this grade is 3.60 g/cm³ |
| 95 % high alumina | Lower wear and contamination where purity limits are strict | Higher price than 92 % |
| 75 % and 68 % medium alumina | Body preparation and general mineral milling where contamination is less critical | Lower price, higher wear rate |
Why alumina instead of steel or pebbles
- No iron pick-up, which would discolour glaze and white bodies.
- Denser than natural flint pebbles, so the same mill volume carries more grinding mass.
- Alumina (corundum) is Mohs 9, hard enough for feldspar, quartz and most fillers.

Checked per batch
- Bulk density by the Archimedes method on samples from the batch, where density is part of the order.
- Diameter range and size split against the order.
- Visual check for cracks, chips and spots.
- Packing and marking before loading.
See quality & inspection for how acceptance terms are written into the order.
Relining at the same time?
If the mill also needs a new lining, we quote alumina lining bricks and media together.

Questions
Which grade should I use?
Start from what contamination your product can tolerate and how much media you use. 92 % suits most glaze, body and mineral grinding. 95 % is for strict purity limits or heavy use. 68 % and 75 % are economy grades where some contamination is acceptable.
Can you match the balls we use now?
Yes. Send the grade, sizes and, if you have them, the measured density or wear rate from your current supplier, so that offers are compared like with like.
Which sizes do you supply?
Balls commonly from 20 to 60 mm; other diameters and fine beads on request. Tell us the mill size and current charge and we can suggest a size split.
How are balls packed?
Usually 25 kg bags on pallets or 1-tonne bulk bags; other packing on request.
Tell us what you grind.
Grade, sizes, quantity and destination are enough for a quote; mill and material details let us check the grade fits.
